DECEMBER 2003 Selexis filed a new patent, called Selexis Genetic Elements II, based on a novel aspect of its technology platform. It is based on two novel and patent-protected principles: human MAR DNA sequences and new transfection procedures.

- Selexis SA was founded as a spin-out of the University of Lausanne by Dr. Igor Fisch and Prof. Nicolas Mermod. The company started hiring highly qualified people.
- Prof. Nicolas Mermod and Dr. Igor Fisch received seed financing from the CTI (Commission pour la Technologie et l’Innovation, Berne).
- Igor Fisch was awarded the De Vigier prize for the best Swiss biotech business idea of the Year 2000.
