Igor Fisch, PhD, CEO

Igor Fisch is the Chief Executive Officer of Selexis and Chairman of the Board of Directors. He is an accomplished protein chemist and molecular biologist. Igor completed his post-doctoral studies in the laboratory of Prof. Sir Greg Winter at the Medical Research Council in Cambridge, UK. He joined the Center for Biotechnology UNIL-EPFL in Lausanne Switzerland as a group leader, working in the field of molecular evolution and peptide discovery. In parallel to his research and teaching activities, he received the De Vigier Prize and the NETS Best Prize with training in entrepreneurship both at the EPFL in Lausanne and at the Babson College in Boston, USA.

Pierre-Alain Girod, PhD, Chief Scientific officer

Pierre-Alain is in charge of the Research and Development at Selexis where he bring its long experience in chromatin-mediated gene regulation. Pierre-Alain also supervises all the technological developments and advancements through our collaboration with  the University of Lausanne. Pierre-Alain obtained a PhD in Plant Biochemistry from the University of Lausanne. He completed his scientific training as a post-doctoral fellow at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, USA. Prior to joining Selexis, he worked at the Department of Biology at the University of Lausanne in the field of targeted protein degradation. He has co-authored a number of scientific papers and patent applications.

Andrew Sandford, Vice President of Business Development and Licensing

A microbiologist by education, Andrew Sandford has been leading the commercialization of innovative technologies in the medical device and biotech industries for over 14 years. Prior to joining Selexis, Andrew was with Dow Chemical's Ventures Business Unit - Dowpharma, where Andrew led a diverse team in the development and launch of the Pfenex Expression Technology™ recombinant protein production platform.  Most recently, Andrew was part of the business development group for Cambrex Biopharma, which is now part of Lonza Biologics.

Nicolas Mermod, Prof., Vice President R&D

Nicolas Mermod is Professor of Biotechnology at Faculty of Biology and Medicine of the University of Lausanne. After completing his post-doctoral studies at the University of California, Berkley, USA, he joined the University of Lausanne as an assistant Professor of the Swiss National Science Foundation to become a full professor in the Department of Biology. Nicolas Mermod exerts teaching and research activities, heading a laboratory of over 20 scientists at the Center for Biotechnology UNIL-EPFL. He has gained a reputation in the field of molecular biology and the control of gene expression and he has authored a number of scientific publications and patents.

Cori Gorman, PhD-MBA, Business Development - Technology and Licensing

Cori Gorman, PhD, MBA, president DNA Bridges has an outstanding record of achievement in basic research and drug development in diverse areas including gene therapy, gene expression and transfer, hormone processing, cell biology, protein transport, and the humanization of antibodies and production of recombination of proteins. At Genentech, Dr. Gorman played a key role in the development of a number of marketed products including Kogenate, Activase, Hercepin, Xolair, and Raptiva. Cori is recognized by citation index as one of the most highly cited authors in the past two decades, with over 10,000 citations. Dr. Gorman is also experienced in business development having closed eighteen corporate partnerships for clients over a two-year period.

Bruno Dalle Carbonare, PhD, Licensing and IP

Bruno Dalle Carbonare is founder and CEO of BDC - The Business Development Company, which specializes in business development and intellectual property management in the life science industry. He is in charge of Selexis licensing and intellectual property management. He is a graduate of the Biocenter of the University of Basel, Switzerland and holds a PhD in cellular and molecular biology. Between 1988 and 1997 he worked for F. Hoffmann-La Roche in Basel where he was a member of the staff of the International Head of R&D of the Roche Group. He was responsible for the scientific support of Roche's Venture Capital Fund and involved in the establishment of many new start-up companies in the biotech/pharmaceutical area in the US, Europe and Switzerland. Since 1998 he has been Managing Director of BDC.

Raymond Jacquet, PhD, Head of cell culture

Raymond is in charge of the mammalian cell culture at Selexis where he brings his experience from the pharma and biotech industry. Raymond obtained his PhD in peptide chemistry from the University of Lausanne. He then decided to focus his scientific career in the field of biotechnology as a postdoctoral fellow at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne (EPFL) under the supervision of Prof. Florian Wurm. After his postdoctoral studies, Raymond joined Schering-Plough in charge of mammalian cell culture and scale-up in their biotechnology cGMP facility in Switzerland. Prior to joining Selexis, Raymond worked at Serono leading the group of protein production in mammalian cells.

David Calabrese, PhD, Head of dna cloning

David is involved in charge of all the DNA cloning at Selexis where he brings a solid experience from his past years within the company. David obtained his PhD at the Microbiology Institute at the University of Lausanne in the field of anti-fungal resistances. He joined Selexis as the first employee in 2001 and was able to put in place all the R&D activities of the company. David also co-authored several scientific papers.

Regine is in charge of our operations at Selexis being at the interface between our clients and Selexis. Regine ensures that all our clients are fully aware of the advancement of their projects and also prepares smooth technology transfer to our clients. Regine acquired a very solid experience and knowledge in cell line development and process development in Germany, working a number of years at Micromet AG as well as at the Max-Planck Institute.
